About Divine Hope

Our Mission

Divine Hope Reformed Bible Seminary exists to provide Biblical and theological instruction to residents of correctional institutions within the state of Illinois and Indiana. The goal of this rigorous program of Biblical and theological studies is the moral transformation of residents in correctional institutions so that they can live in hope and joy and be a blessing to their families, churches, and communities.  Divine Hope’s aim is to foster humility and holiness in our students. We seek to nurture incarcerated men and women who can be examples of moral transformation and who are peacemakers in their prison communities and beyond.

Statement of Belief and Covenant

Each member of the Board of Trustees, Faculty, and Teaching Staff subscribes to the historic confessional standards of the Reformed or Presbyterian Churches. The confessional standards of the Reformed Churches are the Heidelberg Catechism, the Belgic Confession of Faith, and the Canons of Dort. The confessional standards of the Presbyterian Churches are the Westminster Confession of Faith and the Westminster Catechisms. These confessional standards provide the boundaries for the theological and practical instruction in the seminary.

All members of the faculty, Teaching Assistants, and board members are wholeheartedly committed to the Holy Scriptures as the infallible and inerrant Word of God and affirm that the Reformed Confessions faithfully set forth the system of truth taught in Scripture. They are committed to the ecumenical creeds of Christendom; the Apostle’s Creed, the Athanasian Creed, the Nicene Creed, and the Council of Chalcedon.
